Day 5 – Dammam

Hello all

I’m happy that I’ve got the chance to go out and continue shooting for my project. This day is  another old neighborhood in Dammam, some families still living there from 50 years ago. I walked around for an hour and got to meet very nice kids and old men with the promise to be back with their photos printed. This is what my cam captured there. Enjoy !

The first sight, those hanging clothes. What I saw really was ( AA ) !

أول نظرة لهذه الجولة، ملابس معلقة لكن ما شاهدته فعلاً هو حرفان !

An old door with really old blue color, it reminds me to my trip to india

باب قديم باللون الأزرق الباهت والقديم ! يذكرني برحلتي السابقة إلى الهند

Her name is ” Shooq ” an innocent girl that I saw her playing beside her house

اسمها ” شوق ” فتاة بريئة جميلة رأيتها تلعب بجانب منزلها

And Her baby sister ” Shaikah ” they were both playing in the streets

واختها الصغيرة ” شيخة ” كانوا يلعبون معاً

An empty chair, you gotta wonder who is used to sit in this chair under these leaves

كرسي فارغ، لابد أنك تتسائل من كان يجلس هنا تحت هذه الأوراق الخضراء

I mean he insist in doing this in front of my lens, I couldn’t reject him ! as you know I went their to make happiness to the likes of him

أصر أن ألتقط له صورة وهو يقوم بهذه الحركة بدراجته لذلك لم أرفضه وأنا في نفس الوقت أريد اسعادهم

One of the people who lives in this old area, he was enjoying he’s evening talk with others sitting with him ( they didn’t allow me to take their photo and I respect that )

أحد الأشخاص الذي يعيشون في هذه المنطقة القديمة، كان يستمتع بأحاديثه المسائية مع غيره كانوا يجلسون معه ( رفضوا أن أقوم بتصويرهم )

Two kids live in this building, don’t ask about the pose !

ولدان يعيشان في هذا المبنى القديم، لاتسألوني عن وقفتهم !

Yes ! this beautiful young girl lives in the alley behind her at the last door in the right 

نعم ! هذه الفتاة الجميلة الصغيرة تعيش في الزقاق الذي خلفها في آخر باب على اليمين

This odd boy had no eyebrows, don’t know why and didn’t want to ask him so I don’t hurt his feelings

هذا الولد الغريب لم يكن يملك حاجبان، لم أسأله لماذا حتى لا أجرح مشاعره

An old man with the same group I talked about before, gladly he agreed to be photographed

رجل مسن مع نفس المجموعة التي رفضت أن أقوم بتصويرها، لكنه وافق بسرور على أن أقوم بتصويره

I was amazed about this house and more so about the color in the middle of all this ! as for those who don’t know this is an old building was built in the old fashion way 

أنا كنت منذهل من هذا المنزل القديم وأكثر من ذلك هذا اللون في هذا المكان القديم والمتهدم ! لمن لم يلاحظ هذا مبنى قديم مبني على الطريقة القديمة

A Syrian guy that I saw his mustache from a mile a way ! this is the first time I see someone like that in Saudi

رجل سوري صادفته وجذبني شارباه الطويلين ! هذه أول مرة أشاهد مثله داخل السعودية

No parking – road – car to be towed – Saudi Arabia logo – to the Mosque – sorry !

ممنوع الوقوف – طريق – ستسحب السيارة – شعار المملكة العربية السعودية – إلى المسجد – آسف

This old man called ” Bo Saleh ” spend his evening and sometimes the morning inside this small room ( this is the shot from the window )

هذا الرجل المسن يدعى أبو صالح يقضي مسائه وصباحه في هذه الغرفة الصغيرة التي يجتمع مع أصحابه المسنين

I was hoping to see who sit here usually, bad luck for me but it still shows the things we don’t see everyday

كنت أتمنى رؤية أحد هنا في هذا المكان ولكن للأسف كان الوقت سيئاً..

This is like two kids lives inside this old house, and both have one eye

هذه الرسمات مثل ولدين اثنين يعيشون في هذا المنزل وكلاهما لديهما عين واحد فقط

This guy spends his time everyday with his radio but in a weird way his not facing the street, but the neighborhood itself and I think I know why! because he told me that the building behind him didn’t exist 45 years ago, instead the beach was there ! crazy right

هذا الرجل المسن يقضي أيام مع جهاز الراديو الخاص به بطريقة غريبة بحيث أنه لا يواجه الشارع بل يواجه الحي نفسه وأعتقد أني أعرف السبب، أخبرني ان المبنى الذي خلفه لم يكن موجوداً قبل ٤٥ سنة بل كان مكانه البحر ! شيء جنوني

Finally this old house still in the on the main streets in Dammam, King Abdulaziz St. !
