Day 95 Riyadh – Residential Area

Hello all, this is the 2nd post for my Saudi Street project from Riyadh that I talked about, after finishing photographing the old area from the 1st post it was getting dark so I got back the next day & continued to photograph the area around it which was marked by 2 different names (Skirinah area & AlDubiyah area), even though it was both smaller then the last area in terms of alleys but I managed to document most of it with some of the people who lives there.

مرحبا بالجميع، هذه التدوينة الثانية من مشروع حياة الشارع والتي تحدثت عنها سابقاً، بعد أن انتهيت من تصوير حي المعكال والتي نشرته في التدوينة الأولى بدأ ضوء النهار يختفي لذلك قررت العودة في اليوم التالي وأكملت التصوير في الأحياء المجاورة وكانوا اثنين مختلفين (حي سكيرينة وحي الدوبية) وكانت مساحتهم صغيرة مقارنة بحي المعكال من ناحية التخطيط العشوائي ولكنني بشكل عام تمكنت من توثيق الكثير من المباني والناس هناك.

Hello all, we are back to the Capital city Riyadh with my Saudi Street Project with 2 posts, publishing the first one from an old area in the center of the city near AlDeirah old area & AlZal Market that still has some old traditional houses & alleys all around, the density of the residence are not that much, but there still life in it, that’s why I didn’t get to photograph much.

مرحبا بكم جميعاً عدنا مرة اخرى إلى العاصمة الرياض مع مشروع حياة الشارع السعودي في مدونتين، أول تدوينة هي من حي قديم يسمى حي معكال وسط المدينة وهو بالقرب حي الديرة القديم وأسواق الزل والذي لا يزال محتفظاً ببعض البيوت التراثية القديمة المصنوعة من الطين والممرات الضيقة، كثافة السكان هناك ليس كبيرة ولكن لا تزال تدب بالحياة وربما كان ذلك السبب في أنني لم أستطع التصوير كثيراً.

Day 84 Unaizah – Friday’s Market

I visited Qassim Region again after 5 years from my first visit and I don’t know why it took so long to get back, I planned to visit Unaizah city’s Friday weekly market, I published a post from the same market (Day 44 – Unaizah Part 5), then I discovered that the location has moved twice and now it’s outside the city far away from the original location when it was downtown near most of the people who would benefit from this market, I went there and the location is just a big parking area which was somehow good, I arrived there before sunrise and there was already many of sellers who got their merchandise ready to sell while others just arrived even though the weather was very cold at that time.

قمت بزيارة منطقة القصيم مرة اخرى بعد مرور ٥ سنوات من زيارتي الأولى ولا أعلم حقاً لماذا طال الأمر، قمت بالتخطيط مسبقاً لتصوير سوق الجمعة الأسبوعي في مدينة عنيزة، قمت بنشر تدوينة مسبقاً من نفس السوق (اليوم ٤٤ – عنيزة)، حينها اكتشفت أن موقع السوق تغير مرتين والان هو موجود في أطراف المدينة بعيداً عن الموقع السابق والذي كان وسط المدينة بالقرب من الناس الذي يمكن أن يستفيدوا من هذا السوق، ذهبت هناك وكان موقع السوق كبيراً عبارة عن مواقف سيارات والذي كان بشكل ما جيداً، وصلت هناك قبل الشروق وكان هناك اناس مسبقاً قد جهزوا بضاعتهم واخرون كانوا قد وصلوا للتو على الرغم من برودة الجو.

Hello all, since I was in Riyadh for 3 days I had the chance to revisit AlZal Market and photograph the people, the shop, the auctions & some of the area around it, I already published more then one post from this market but never enough! Visit Day 38 and Day 54, I usually interact with people in my photowalk, but I decided I didn’t want to do much interaction which makes me shoot more candid moments.

وتصوير الناس والمحلات والحراج وبعض الاماكن حولها، قمت مسبقاً بنشر عدة تدوينات من نفس هذا السوق ولكن لا أستطيع الاكتفاء من هذا المكان! قم بزيارة يوم ٣٨ و يوم ٥٤، عادة أقوم بالتواصل مع الناس في جولات التصوير ولكن قررت في هذه الجولة أن أقلل من هذا التواصل حتى أستطيع التركيز أكثر على اللحظات العفوية.

Day 79 Riyadh – Birds Market

Hello all, finally after curfew from COVID19 is over and the weather is starting to cool off I’ve started to get back into street photography and for the Street Life in Saudi Arabia Project so I had the chance to visit the capital city Riyadh to visit a new market which is the bird & pet weekly market in Friday which is usually start after Asr preyer located South of Riyadh, it was interesting to see more animals aside from always seeing birds (mostly pigeons) they were lots of kind of dogs & cats, also some baby monkeys.

مرحبا جميعاً، أخيراً بعد انتهاء الحظر بسبب جائحة الكورونا والأجواء أصبحت أقل حرارة بدأت بالعودة لتصوير حياة الشارع وللتصوير لمشروع حياة الشارع في السعودية لذا كانت لدي الفرصة للذهاب للرياض لزيارة سوق جديد وهو سوق الطيور والحيوانات الأليفة الأسبوعي في يوم الجمعة والذي يبدأ عادة من بعد صلاة العصر وموقعه في أقصى جنوب الرياض، كان الأمر مثيراً للاهتمام بالنسبة لي رؤية الحيوانات الأليفة أكثر من الطيور (معظمها طيور الحمام) كان هناك الكثير من الأنواع من الكلاب والقطط وكان أيضاً هناك بعض القردة الصغيرة.

Hello all, today’s post is back to the capital Riyadh city and again I went back to downtown (which’s located in south of Riyadh) also known as “AlBatha” like I said before this big area has been and still the street photography destination for anyone who lives or visit Riyadh, the post (Day 65 – Riyadh) was also from this area, but this time I walked passed the market into the areas nearby, in this walk I didn’t interact with anyone at all I just wanted to shoot candid photos.

مرحبا جميعاً، تدوينة اليوم تعود من العاصمة الرياض، وأيضاً هذه المرة ذهبت إلى وسط المدينة (والتي تقع في جنوب الرياض) المعروفة بمنطقة البطحاء، مثل ما ذكرت سابقاً هذه المنطقة الكبيرة كانت ولا تزال وجهة مصورين حياة الشارع سواء كانوا من داخل الرياض أو خارجها، التدوينة (اليوم ٦٥ – الرياض) كانت من نفس المنطقة ولكنني قمت بالمشي على مساحة أكبر واستكشفت ما بعد الأسواق إلى الأحياء المجاورة، في هذه الجولة لم أتحدث مع أي أحد ولم أحاول الاقتراب من أحد لغرض تصويره، كنت فقط أهدف للصور العفوية.

Day 65 – Riyadh

Hello all, today’s post is back to the capital Riyadh city, this time I went to downtown (which’s located in south of Riyadh) also known as “AlBatha” this big area has been and still the street photography destination for anyone who lives or visit Riyadh, the area is big & it has many markets from all different kinds & it has so many tall residence buildings for foreign people, although the area is big I only walked in small area of it. 

مرحبا جميعاً، تدوينة اليوم تعود من العاصمة الرياض، هذه المرة ذهبت إلى وسط المدينة (والتي تقع في جنوب الرياض) المعروفة بمنطقة البطحاء، هذه المنطقة الكبيرة كانت ولا تزال وجهة مصورين حياة الشارع سواء كانوا من داخل الرياض أو خارجها، المنطقة كبيرة وتحتوي على أسواق من مختلف الأنواع وأيضاً تحتوي على عمارات سكنية شاهقة للسكان الأجانب، على الرغم من أن المنطقة كبيرة إلا أنني فقط قمت بالتجول في جزء بسيط منها.

Day 60 – AlBukariyah

Hello all, today’s post is from another small city in Qassim Region which is AlBukariyah city, naturally I went downtown for the market but it was so small it was only on 1 street & that’s it, I already arrived a bit late about 1 hour before sunset so while walking I noticed an old area with lots of old traditional houses which some are still used so I decided to focus on this side while I have time, the weather was cloudy all the time since it’s December which wasn’t good at that time. This photowalk was part of my trip to Qassim Region in December 2015.

مرحبا جميعاً، تدوينة اليوم من أيضاً مدينة صغيرة اخرى في منطقة القصيم وهي مدينة البكيرية، توجهت إلى وسط المدينة من أجل الوصول إلى السوق ولكن تفاجأت أن مساحة السوق صغيرة جداً ولا تتعدى الشارع الواحد فقط، وصلت متأخراً بعض الشيء تقريباً قبل ساعة واحدة من الغروب لذا أثناء ذهابي إلى السوق لاحظت أحد الأحياء يحتوي على كمية كبيرة من البيوت الشعبية التقليدية المستخدم بعضها لذا قررت التركيز على هذا الجانب بينما لدي الوقت، الأجواء كانت مليئة بالسحب طوال الوقت بما أنه كان شهر ديسمبر وهذا الشيء لم يكن جيداً في ذلك الوقت. هذه الجولة كانت من ضمن رحلتي لمنطقة القصيم في ديسمبر ٢٠١٥.

Hello all, today’s post is from a small city in Qassim Region which is AlRass city, because it’s a small city there was only the local market downtown so my walk mainly from there, and it happens that it rained a little bit, this photowalk was part of my trip to Qassim Region in December 2015.

Hello all, today’s post is back to the capital Riyadh city, I went to the main market for selling, junks, used items and some cheap things in anything you could imagine, the market is located south of the city and it’s called “Haraj Bin Qassem”. I only vistied the market once and as I was told, most of market has been rebuilt & arranged the seling spaces more.

مرحبا جميعاً، تدوينة اليوم تعود من العاصمة الرياض، ذهبت إلى السوق الرئيسي لبيع الخرداوات، الأشياء المستخدمة و بعض الأشياء رخيصة ثمن ويمكن أن تجدون أي شيء تتوقعونه، السوق يقع في جنوب الرياض ويطلق عليه اسم “حراج بن قاسم”. قمت بزيارة السوق مرة واحدة فقط وقد علمت أن السوق منذ فترة قد أعيد انشاءه وترتيب أماكن البيع.
