Day 41 – Najran Part 2

And with Part 2 from Najran city from Day 41( If you haven’t seen Part 1 please do first ) I continue with my friend around the city heading the famous Daggers Market which represent a tradition for the people in the south of Saudi Arabia. There I saw dozens of Daggers in different shapes and quality and price which is between 300 SR – 20,000 SR! and in the black markets it could go on to 80,000 SR! And there are still very famous Saudi people who still work their and many reach for them because of their experience.

ومع الجزء الثاني من مدينة نجران لتدوينة اليوم ٤١ ( إذا لم تشاهد الجزء الأول اضغط هنا ) أكمل تجولي مع صديقي في المدينة متجهين إلى سوق الجنابي المشهور في نجران والذي يمثل عادة معروفة ومتوارثة لدى أهل الجنوب في المملكة. هناك شاهدت العشرات من الخناجر والجنابي بأشكالها المتنوعة وبجودتها المختلفة، أسعار الخنجر يتراوح ما بين ٣٠٠ ريال سعودي – ٢٠ ألف ريال سعودي! وفي سوق السوداء من الممكن أن يصل إلى ٨٠ ألف ريال! وما يزال هناك سعوديين معروفين يعملون في محلاتهم والبعض يستعين بهم لخبراتهم في هذا المجال.

 Going deep inside one of the stores is a workshop for this experience blacksmith. While I was photograph him a man came with a dagger that has silver on the handle, he said to him ” I was told that you are the experience man here and you can tell if this is silver or not ” the blacksmith took one look and said to him ” Yes this is silver and I took responsibility for my words! you can count on me “

في أحد المحلات كان هناك بالداخل ورشة حدادة صغيرة لهذا الحداد المتمرس. وعندما كنت أقوم بتصويره جاءه أحد الرجال ومعه خنجر يحتوي على فضة على مسكة الخنجر وقال له ” لقد قيل لي أنك شخص خبير في السوق وتستطيع أن تعرف إن كان هذا فضة حقيقي أم لا ” الحداد بدوره ألقى نظرة واحدة وقال له ” نعم هذا فضة حقيقي وأنا أخذ المسؤولية الكاملة! عن كلامي هذا وتستطيع الاعتماد علي “

 And in another shop this old man is working in a small space with all his things around him to always deliver the best daggers to his customers

وفي محل اخر يوجد هذا الرجل المسن يعمل في مكان صغير كهذا محاط بجميع أغراضه الخاصة بالمحل ليقوم بتجهيز أفضل الخناجر لزبائنه

 Most of the shops that I saw were occupied by friends gathering and chatting, this makes it a place part of them!

معظم المحلات في السوق كان بها أصدقاء يجلسون مع بعضهم البعض، ذلك يجعل هذا المكان جزء منهم!

 Part of the market they sold this made of sheep skin! It’s a very old method to use this after preparing it to store cold water in it by the people who live in the desert! The owner is showing me who to fill it with water and how cold it is coming out from it

جزء من السوق يقومون ببيع هذا وهي مصنوعة من جلد الغنم ويسمى ( المشراب )! هي طريقة قديمة جداً يستخدمونها بعد تهيئتها بشكل مناسب لكي تحفظ الماء وتبقيه بارداً وكانوا ولا يزال يستخدمونه من يعيش في الصحراء! صاحب المحل كان يقوم بتعبئة احداها بالماء، ويقوم بتجربة اخر لأرى أنه ما يزال محافظ على برودته

 I was told that this oldman is one of the famous of the this market, he does all the work by his hand in his shop, in the photos above he was preparing a dagger that was worth 5000 SR

قيل لي أن هذا الرجل المسن هو واحد من أشهر القائمين هنا بالسوق، يقوم بكامل العمل لتجهيز الخنجر في محله. في الصور العلوية يقوم بتجهيز خنجر قيمته تقارب 5000 ريال

 Some people in the market wearing the dagger in a strap as it’s a very tradition thing to do.

البعض بالسوق وهو يرتدون الجنبية والذي يعتبر عادة تقليدية معروفة في المنطقة

مؤخراً متعتي كانت في إلتقاط ظلي في أماكن عدة

 I left the market and I stopped by a small corner that has a few dates shops, this is one of them

غادرت السوق وتوقفت جانباً عند عدة محلات تبيع الرطب والتمر، هذه احداها والتي يبيع بها هذا الرجل المسن

 Before I leave a saw this group of people together with this oldman who have told me that he once drove around the kingdom because of his past work with a big truck

قبل أن أغادر رأيت مجموعة من الناس ومعهم هذا الرجل المسن الذي حدثني أنه زار معظم أنحاء المملكة بشاحنته في عمله السابق

At the end of the day, I still remember this great tea under a wooden fire !
